Carnivorous Stuffies

Move over, cuddly slice of raw fish, and make way for Japan’s newest toy: the carnivorous plant stuffie! After mining even the least cute animals for inspiration, exhausted Japanese toy designers have finally discovered meat-eating plants.

Not only do these insect-luring pitcher plants lend themselves to being useful zippered pouches (in case your toddler doesn’t choose to curl up with it at bedtime), they come in quite an array of colors and styles…

and lend themselves to pint-sized purse charms that radiate a subtle “don’t approach without caution” message.

And insect death traps aren’t the only members of the plant kingdom that made it to the toy designers’ drawing boards—say hello to the Stinky Plant Stuffie…

and it’s prickly cousin too.

The Samurai’s Octopus…is a truly remarkable book, one that surprised and charmed me at every turn of the page. It’s one of the most memorable books I’ve read in a long time. You’re in for a treat.”
