Saturday night I went to the monthly Goth party at Club Marz and met up with famed author/journalist/TV host La Carmina, who was filming a segment for NHK Tokyo Kawaii TV. The fabulous outfits and makeup of everybody there – especially La Carmina and Yukiro – are always a visual treat.
And the entertainment did not disappoint. I’m trying (and failing) to imagine this mix at an American live house:

If you want to go to a Midnight Mess the next time you’re in Tokyo, dates & ticket info are here.

Wow! So cool 🙂
And guess who went with me? Ayumi!
I love these glimpses of life in Japan! And I also love that dress you have on, which looks spectacular on you.
Wow, thanks! It’s actually two pieces, and was designed by Kalico Delafay, the brilliant artiste who sells her hats, accessories, corsets and other clothing through Dark Garden in San Francisco. (www.darkgarden.com).
Mine was a special order, but you can other examples of her work here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/darkgarden/sets/72157623423773764/show/
The thing I love about her clothes is that they make everybody look and feel absolutely gorgeous, no matter what body type you have.
You have fantastic hair! But that’s not what I was going to say… I was going to say that you went to Midnight Mess! Nostalgia! I haven’t been in years… way cool. Did you meet Maya (organizer)? One of these days I’m going to get all tarted up and go again… (^-^)
Come in October! Halloween! I haven’t been to the October Midnight Mess yet, but I was at Tokyo Dark Castle last October, and the costumes were so incredible they defied description. I was sorry that Mistress Maya wasn’t there on Saturday night, but I’m definitely planning to go back to see her perform.
Let’s go together! I could do with some lurking in leather…
ゼひ!That would be fun. I hope it’s cool enough for leather by then! Tokyo Dark Castle is October 15th, Midnight Mess Halloween is October 29th. Dochi demo ii?

I think I might go to Midnight Mess AND Dark Castle this month on account of the Halloweenishness – it would be fun to meet up at one or both! If you’d like to, find me on Facebook (I think I’m the only Jonelle Patrick) and maybe we can message that way.
I hope these gals are real girls, you never know in Japan… 🙂
Ahaha, some are and some aren’t, it’s true! I love how blurred the gender line can be in Japan.
