The train station with a foot bath!

The minute you get off the train at Kamisuwa Station in Nagano, you know there’s something a little different about it…

and then you see the sign!

Yes, there’s a free hot spring foot bath for weary travelers, and all you have to do is take off your shoes and wait for a seat!

And if you’re an advanced hot spring aficionado, they sell “onsen egg” packs at the New Days convenience store in the station lobby. You get a softboiled egg, a basket for the shells, and a paper cup for cracking and eating it…

at this handy “hot spring egg” station. (Put the boiled egg in the cup to crack the shell and keep the remnants until you find a trash can to throw them away.)

The foot bath is free, and there’s no time limit, but if others are waiting, please be courteous and give them a chance to soothe their aching appendages before their train comes too!
