If yesterday’s “Fairy Tale“ exhibit post wasn’t enough to get you to the current exhibition at the Hotel Gajoen before it closes, I’m here to push you off the edge of the table with THESE.
The cat theme runs strong throughout the show, but the ones that really put a smile on my face were Yasumaru Ozawa’s cats cheerfully sharpening their claws on priceless furniture…
waiting for the summer fūrin bells to chime the arrival of a cool breeze…
watching the unseen spirits among us…
hunting dragonflies…
demanding all the ear scritches…
and taking post-prandial naps.
There are even moar kittehs waiting to go home with you in the shop…
and the ones in the show are also for sale (but can’t be picked up—or shipped within Japan—until after the show closes on the 23rd).
P.S. those aren’t the only cat-themed art in the shop—Takayuki Nagahama’s roof tile cats are available in lucky maneki neko poses…
and this pair of Ryō Yoneyama’s maneki neko are there for the souvenir-of-a-lifetime buying too.
If you’re in Tokyo, go see this show QUICK before it closes on September 23, 2024!

Ahahaha that is the gaffe that just keeps on giving, doesn’t it?
Those are beautifully done!
I thought a couple of these looked like yours!
Yes, the black and white one does
They are amazing!
Wish you could have been here to see them with me! They really were fun—this artist managed to capture that cat energy soooo perfectly.
I think they are really special.
Me too! And so is your blog—subscribed! ( ^ _ ^ )
Thank you!
