Yesterday I got to stumble around doing a 360˚ gawk in a forest of plum trees wearing all their favorite clothes at once.
Kairakuen Garden in Mito was planted by a genius of a daimyo who totally got that too much of a good thing is never enough. 2,490 fluffy-branched trees later, I think I can safely say that this is the plum blossom extravaganza to end all plum blossom extravaganzas….

They might be beautiful on the other side of the mountains, but over here in Oregon Outback, High Desert, not much shows up but lots of sagebrush. I love it, really. But I do miss lots of greenery and blooming things. So, thanks for sharing! 😉 I can practically smell spring in your pics!
This was what I was looking forward to seeing six years ago, I was scheduled to visit Japan in late March of 2011. Fukushima disaster hit the week before I was to leave.
