Skate Beagle
This is the most famous skatedog in Yoyogi Park. (Yeah, there’s more than one!) Most of them just sort of ride, with all four feet on the board, but this little guy actually pushes off and gets up to speed, then hops on! Love that he skates goofy and regular, all at the same time.
If you’d like to visit Yoyogi Park the next time you’re in Tokyo, directions & a map are on my website, The Tokyo Guide I Wish I’d Had.

Read a novel set in Tokyo…

Writing mystery books set in Tokyo is mostly what I do, but I also blog about the odd stuff I see every day in Japan. I'm a graduate of Stanford University and the Sendagaya Japanese Institute in Tokyo, and a member of the International Thriller Writers, the Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters In Crime. When I'm not in Tokyo, I live in San Francisco. I also host a travel site called The Tokyo Guide I Wish I'd Had, so if you're headed to Japan and want to check out the places I take my friends when they're in town, take a look!
I love the way his little tongue is sticking out of his mouth in the last shot, presumably in concentration.
This dog is really amazing in his ability to just keep skating for hours!
I saw a bulldog in Manhattan on a skateboard, but I must admit, he was being yanked along by his owner.
Yes, I’ve seen skateboarding dogs on a leashes in both Tokyo and San Francisco, but this is the first time I’ve seen a dog that actually deserved to be in Thrasher magazine!
He’s so cute in his little coat!
And thank goodness it’s a dignified little coat (it was rather cold the day I took this picture). It could have been So Much Worse, considering the humiliating outfits available here for dogs!
Just thought you’d like to know that someone is using your beagle photos without crediting you.
Thank you SO MUCH for the heads up! I don’t mind if people share my pictures, but I beetled right over there and nicely asked them to credit me. Really appreciate you telling me and posting the link!
