Them’s Fightin’ Undies!

It’s Saturday night and you aint’ got nobody, so ditch the tightie whities, put on your Fightin’ Pants and get out there and swing the bat! In Japan, every guy’s favorite get-lucky underwear have a name: shōbu pantsu. And who would’t feel like Captain Nampa in these form-follows-function designs…

“Hey babe, wanna play ‘Where’s Waldo’?”
When the lights go out, Waldo says, “It’s time to PITCH A TENT.”

Banana juice. Uh huh.

All the fightin’ pants pictured here are from the Rakuten Crazy Ferret men’s underwear pages, except for the One Piece model shown up top, which is from Body Wild.

Writing mystery books set in Tokyo is mostly what I do, but I also blog about the odd stuff I see every day in Japan. I'm a graduate of Stanford University and the Sendagaya Japanese Institute in Tokyo, and a member of the International Thriller Writers, the Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters In Crime. When I'm not in Tokyo, I live in San Francisco. I also host a travel site called The Tokyo Guide I Wish I'd Had, so if you're headed to Japan and want to check out the places I take my friends when they're in town, take a look!
