Chez Vending Machine
Starving after completing the Scholia Arcana questline in Kingdoms of Amalur, you’re too weakened by your exertions to make it all the way to the 7-11 to pick up some stewed radish and hot-dog oden for dinner. But fortunately, all is not lost because…you live in Japan! Three-course vending machine to the rescue!
Yes, it’s possible to buy an entire meal from this machine. Choose your main course from the tempting selection of canned oden, ramen and grilled chicken yakitori! Wash it down with a classic melon soda! Top it all off with a can of KitKats, accompanied by a civilized café au lait!
Just…don’t tell your mom.

Writing mystery books set in Tokyo is mostly what I do, but I also blog about the odd stuff I see every day in Japan. I'm a graduate of Stanford University and the Sendagaya Japanese Institute in Tokyo, and a member of the International Thriller Writers, the Mystery Writers of America, and Sisters In Crime. When I'm not in Tokyo, I live in San Francisco. I also host a travel site called The Tokyo Guide I Wish I'd Had, so if you're headed to Japan and want to check out the places I take my friends when they're in town, take a look!
You don’t mean liquid Kit-Kats, right? I know Japan is all over Kit-Kats, but surely they haven’t liquefied them…… D:
(P.S. KoA:R will be the WRPG hotness in Japan until Dragon’s Dogma is released on Wednesday. :P)
Today’s gold, tomorrow’s garbage, ’twas ever thus!
Liquid KitKats: ewwww! I think these are just put in cans in order to be vending machine deliverable…
Miso Ramen in a can? Genius!
The thing I can’t figure out is how you’re supposed to eat it! I mean, vending machines don’t dispense chopsticks so…???
