How to Carry a Basketball on the Subway

Yeah, those are dedicated basketball carrying bags. And they’re not so twee as you think. In a country where hardly anyone travels by car, all kinds of equipment needs to be carried on subways without endangering the kerbillion other passengers. Accidentally dropping something like a basketball on the tracks is: not  a good idea. And in case you thought that all Japanese kids are unfailingly polite rule-followers, right after I snapped this picture, the boy on the left dribbled his basketball – inside the carry bag – all the way down the train car.
